Reflecting back on 2023

As the year 2023 comes to a close, Nardy and I wanted to take some time to reflect back on our last 2 years @2Write4U. We both regularly get asked questions about our company, so we thought we’d share an interview with the top 5 questions. 

1. Hoe gaat het met jullie bedrijf? / How’s it going with your company?

Nardy: Het gaat top! Afgelopen jaar hebben veel bedrijven ons weten te vinden, die ons het vertrouwen gaven om interessante en mooie content voor hen te creëren.

Shannon: Really great! We’ve been lucky to have worked with some great companies and entrepreneurs so far. And we’ve done this without having to proactively find projects, they find us 😊 Thank you network!

2. Wat doen jullie eigenlijk? / What you do you actually do?

Nardy: Wij schrijven/vertalen Nederlandse en Engelse teksten voor bedrijven die dat zelf niet kunnen of willen. Denk hierbij aan content voor hun websites, blogs, brochures, nieuwsbrieven, artikelen en social media.

Shannon: We write! I translate!

 3. Wat voor teksten schrijven jullie dan? / What kind of projects have you worked on?

Nardy: Afgelopen jaar heb ik teksten mogen schrijven voor meerdere websites, diverse artikelen, brochures, persberichten, voorstelprofielen, business cases en voice-overs voor online video’s. Wat je als bedrijf ook wilt communiceren; wij zorgen ervoor dat de juiste boodschap wordt verpakt in jullie tone of voice.

Shannon:  In the last couple of years, I have translated a variety of documents, including technical drawings, job vacancies, internal communication briefings, contracts, and book excerpts, to name a few. Additionally, I had the opportunity to collaborate with a Dutch celebrity actively promoting herself in America. For her social media and app, I didn't just provide generic translations but carefully crafted each document to capture her distinctive tone of voice, ensuring it was both heard and recognized. Lastly, I analyzed a company's Dutch website, offering feedback on how they could enhance its overall quality.

4. Waar halen jullie de tijd vandaan? / How do you find the time?

Nardy: Voor iets dat je leuk vindt, kun je altijd tijd vrijmaken. Schrijven is mijn hobby. Hoe mooi is het dan dat dit ook nog betaald wordt! Ik krijg er steeds weer energie van en kan het prima combineren met mijn baan bij Seesing Flex.

Shannon: You make time for something you love. I enjoy all aspects of writing, the analyzing, editing, reading and translating. It’s amazing how much time you can find in a day when you love your work.

5. Wat zijn jullie doelen voor 2024? / What are your goals for 2024?

Nardy: Behalve mooie content creëren voor uiteenlopende bedrijven, heb ik drie indirecte doelen, te weten:

• Nieuwe website – de huidige website hebben we twee jaar geleden zelf gemaakt. We begonnen net en vonden dat we vooralsnog konden volstaan met deze basiswebsite. Inmiddels zijn we dat ontgroeid en moet er een nieuwe, professionelere website komen.
• Vaker social media updates – afgelopen jaar waren we vooral druk met de teksten voor onze opdrachtgevers. Aankomend jaar willen we wat vaker van ons laten horen op de socials.
• Meer samenwerken – ik heb een partner bij 2Write4U, maar we werken amper samen. Toen we begonnen, hadden we het idee dat we veel opdrachtgevers samen zouden bedienen, maar in de praktijk heeft ieder haar eigen projecten. Ons doel is om in 2024 meer gezamenlijke projecten aan te nemen. De eerste stappen hierin worden momenteel gezet in de vorm van een mogelijke samenwerking, maar daarover kunnen we nu nog niets vertellen.

Shannon: 

• Fancy new website – we realize there are advantages to cookie cutter sites, but as communication professionals, we really want/need a professional site. This will provide people with a better understanding of what we are capable of, as we will be able to showcase our work better.
• More social updates - we have lots to share, so we’ll get better at this!
• More projects together! One of our goals when we thought about starting this adventure together was to work on projects together. To our surprise, most of the work has been completed individually, but the ‘after work’ meetings are always fun!
